MP Chabbewal issues appointment letters on compassionate grounds at MC Phagwara

Municipal Corporation Phagwara Commissioner Dr Akshita Gupta (IAS) told The Tribune that the appointments were made to the posts of four Peons, three Safai Karmacharis, one Mali and one Chowkidar. She said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to providing employment opportunities to dependents of deceased employees while promoting social justice.
Dr Gupta emphasised the civic body’s focus on citizen welfare and assured that the Municipal Corporation is dedicated to ensuring time-bound and transparent processing of compassionate appointments while strengthening inclusive and responsive governance.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Rampal Uppal, Former Minister Joginder Singh Maan, Halqa Incharge Harji Maan, MC Commissioner Dr. Akshita Gupta (IAS), Senior Deputy Mayor Tejpal Basra, Deputy Mayor Vipan Krishan Sood, councillors, and other dignitaries.
Addressing the occasion, Dr. Chabbewal said the government remains committed to supporting families in times of crisis. “Such appointments not only restore financial stability but also uphold the dignity of labour and public service,” he noted.
Mayor Uppal praised the swift processing of compassionate cases and urged the new appointees to perform their duties with dedication toward the city’s cleanliness and development.
