He said on the top of his agenda was provision of a connecting flight to Varanasi. “I have moved an issue that since there are several devotees from Doaba and neighbourhood, who wish to visit religious places in Varanasi, a provision of a connecting flight be made for the city. We already have a flight to Bengaluru and another to Mumbai. So, the Bengaluru flight, which halts here, can be a connecting flight to Varanasi. Some changes in the timings have to be made to make adjustments. I hope that my proposal shall work soon,” he said.

Channi said he was working to ensure that the access to Adampur airport was improved in the days to come. “Those who have to take a flight have to circumvent through villages. If we have a better direct route to the terminal, passengers will be at ease. I have called all officials concerned for a meeting on this issue next week at the airport so that we can plan accordingly,” he said.

The MP said he was in talks with the Railway Minister regarding the halt of Vande Bharat train at Jalandhar Cantt station. “The Katra-bound train has a stopover here, but the Delhi-bound train too should halt here, if the talks materialise,” he said.

Channi also discussed proposals for several under and overbridges in Jalandhar district with the Railway Minister, and hoped their construction would start soon. He said a budget of Rs. 134 crore was allocated for the road work. He said the drainage issue near Kala Sanghian too would be resolved at a cost of Rs 38.21 crore.
