In a step toward improving road infrastructure in Hoshiarpur, Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa today inaugurated the construction work on the Ring Road Hoshiarpur. The 2.5-kilometer-long stretch—from Bajwara Satsang Ghar to Swarn Bypass—has long been in a state of disrepair and is now being renovated at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal expressed satisfaction that the inauguration coincided with the first day of Navratri, calling it an auspicious beginning. He highlighted the extensive damage caused to roads across the region due to recent rains and floods. He noted that Hoshiarpur has already seen the construction of 1,000 kilometres of roads and that work is currently underway. An additional 500 kilometres of roads—approved at a cost of Rs 71 crore—will soon be constructed under a new scheme, which includes 25-26 road projects.

MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa stated that construction and repair of all major roads in the city are progressing rapidly despite earlier delays caused by the rains. He assured that officials have been directed to maintain high quality standards to ensure strong and long-lasting roads for the public.

Also present at the ceremony were Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, Executive Engineer Gurmeet Singh, councillors, sarpanches, panchs, and a large number of area residents.
