Despite Jalandhar Aam Aadmi Party MP Sushil Rinku having been invited to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the renovation work at Jalandhar City railway station by Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Monday, he chose to skip it.

Instead, the Lok Sabha MP joined Punjab Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh, AAP MLAs Sheetal Angural and Raman Arora to lay the foundation stone of new tubewells in the Deol Nagar area falling under Jalandhar West Assembly constituency. The AAP leaders also launched the renovation work of a park at Adarsh Nagar and establishment of a fire station at Sports and Surgical Complex, Jalandhar. All these projects have been planned to be executed at an outlay of Rs 1.91 crore.

At the function, Balkar Singh said there was no paucity of funds for development as the state government had already completed a number of projects. The minister laid the foundation stone of two tubewells at Deol Nagar and Silver Enclave Village Chokhan, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 21.48 lakh each. Likewise, the new fire station at the Sports and Surgical Complex would be made at an outlay of Rs 121.71 lakh while the Kanwaljit Park project would cost Rs 48.92 lakh.
