0Raising farmers’ concerns in the House on Friday, Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal sought a special package of Rs 20,000 crore for crop diversification in the state. Speaking over the farmers’ issues in parliament, the AAP MP highlighted the present plight of state’s farmers urging the Union Government not to overlook the enormous contribution of farmers in nation’s development. He said that due to the ill-conceived policies of the Centre, farmers were forced to stage agitations.

He said Punjab contributes 18 per cent wheat in total production, 11 per cent of rice and four per cent cotton in Central pool. He said the Punjab Government had already given the highest cane prices to cane growers.
