In a breakthrough, the police have arrested an accused, who had been absconding in a murder case. The accused has been identified as Shubham, a resident of village Slaicha, Jalandhar.

Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told the media that the operation was conducted under the supervision of DSP Onkar Singh Brar, and Inspector Aman Saini, Station House Officer of Shahkot. The case relates to an incident on April 29, 2023, when Balwinder Singh complained about the abduction of his brother-in-law Gursharanpreet and his daughter Manpreet Kaur.

The victims were reportedly taken to the residence of Buta Ram by Joga Singh, Buta Ram and Shubham where they were allegedly assaulted and forced to consume poison, resulting in their deaths.

An FIR was registered on April 30, 2023, under Sections 302, 449, 364, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. While the other accused were apprehended earlier, Shubham remained at large.
