Nasha Mukti Yatra begins in Naru Nangal Khas to promote drug free society
The “Yuddh Nashian Viruddh” campaign took a significant step forward as the Nasha Mukti Yatra was launched by the MLA of Hoshiarpur Assembly Constituency in the villages of Naru Nangal Khas and Naru Nangal Kila.
While addressing the villagers, the MLA emphasised that freeing Punjab from the grip of drugs is a top priority for the Aam Aadmi Party government. He noted that drug addiction not only affects the youth but also deeply impacts families and society as a whole. The objective of the yatra, he said, is to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and work toward creating a drug-free society.
The MLA also highlighted the government’s firm stance on tackling drug trade, with strict action being taken against drug peddlers. In addition, rehabilitation centres and counselling services are being provided for those seeking to overcome addiction. He urged villagers to support the government’s efforts in drug prevention and to contribute toward making their homes, streets and neighbourhoods drug-free.
During the event, local panchayats and youth shared their thoughts and took an oath to turn the campaign into a mass movement. The Nasha Mukti Yatra saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, school children, youth and social organisations. The awareness drive featured poster rallies, slogans and public meetings to educate the community on the harmful effects of drug abuse.
