Neglect of farmers’ demands factor in BJP defeat: Grewal

Commenting on the defeat of BJP in the municipal elections, senior party leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said after resignation of Sunil Jakhar from state presidentship of the party, the BJP remained without a head and could not win the confidence of people. Grewal said the BJP’s lack of response towards farmers’ demands also remained a major factor in its defeat. He congratulated the winning candidates of the BJP and admitted that some of them had won due to their own work and not just party support.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
