Phagwara NGO, Punjab Radio London organise mass marriages for needy families

In an act of social service and humanitarian commitment, the Helping Hands Organisation, Phagwara, in collaboration with Punjab Radio London, organised a mass wedding ceremony for underprivileged families at Gurdwara Akali Banga Road, Phagwara.

Under the leadership of founding president Harminder Singh Basra and Surjit Singh Ghumman, the organisation successfully solemnised the Anand Karaj of ten couples from financially weak backgrounds, enabling them to begin a new chapter of life with dignity and blessings. An additional couple was provided with complete assistance and essential household items required for marriage.

The wedding procession was welcomed with traditional band music, followed by the customary Milni, performed jointly by organisation members and family representatives. The organisers also arranged tea and refreshments for all the baarats, ensuring a warm and respectful reception for every guest.

The ceremony was graced by several eminent personalities, including NRIs Tek Chand Punni from Germany and Pindu Johal from the UK, former minister Joginder Singh Mann, Mayor Ram Pal Upal, Amit Shukla, Anita Som Prakash, Daljit Raju, Chairman Tavinder Ram, Shiv Sena leader Inderjit Karwal, Bunty Walia, Harinder Kaur Sethi, Amanpreet Kaur Basra, Akashdeep Basra, and many other prominent social workers and dignitaries. Gurmukh Singh’s Keertan Jatha performed soulful hymns, adding spiritual grace to the occasion.

Continuing its tradition of service, the organisation gifted complete household kits to all newly-wed brides. Guests lauded the noble initiative, calling Kanyadaan one of the greatest humanitarian deeds and encouraged society to support such efforts for the welfare of needy families. Many also pledged continued cooperation with the organisation in future endeavours.
