NIT marks Engineer’s Day, launches drone technology bootcamp

The event began with an inaugural address by Dr Ashish Raman, followed by a welcome speech from Prof Nitai Basak.
Dean (Students Welfare) Anish Sachdeva encouraged students to work for societal improvement, while Dean (Industry and International Affairs) Mamta Khosla exhorted them to emulate Sir M Visvesvaraya’s exemplary contributions. The NIT Director inaugurated the event, engaging with the participants, and encouraged faculty to continue organising similar events throughout the year. As part of the celebrations, 91 PhD students showcased their research through poster presentations, and several technical societies organised live competitions that were attended by faculty, students and the esteemed guests.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Sumit Sharma. In addition to Engineer’s Day, NIT-Jalandhar is currently hosting a five-day bootcamp titled “Drone 360: Comprehensive Bootcamp on UAV Technology & Application”.
The event, being held from September 18 to 22, is being organised under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and focuses on building capacity in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and related technologies. Led by Prof Arun Khosla, the Chief Investigator of the project, the bootcamp is a key initiative in the “Capacity Building for Human Resource Development in Unmanned Aircraft System” project.
