Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the condition of the Sikh community in India, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Bittu today said Rahul’s statement was aimed at dividing the country.

He said there was no difference between Rahul and Khalistan supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. He said his comments were a nod to radical elements who had been seeking to establish Khalistan.

Bittu said, “Rahul has a habit of crying. Earlier, he gave statements on the Muslims and OBCs. Now he has added oil to the fire by saying things which people like Pannun endorse.”

The MoS said, “He has supported the referendum sought by radicals from the past three decades. There is no difference between Pannun and Rahul.”

“Seeing Modi Sahib in power pains you. Thus, you are trying to fiddle with emotions of the Sikhs. From 1980 to 1992, the Gandhi family stoked fire in the state. Once again he is trying to do the same,” added Bittu.

Speaking on the referendum to establish Khalistan, Bittu said, “Punjabis are not in favour of Khalistan. However, there is a vaccum in Sikh leadership due to which these issues are raised time and again. As long as Sikhs don’t find good leaders — people like Pannun and Rahul will keep exploiting them.”
