The building of Nurmahal police station has deteriorated significantly, causing operational difficulties and safety concerns. The flooring has sunk, making movement challenging and the Station House Officer was recently forced to shift his office to another room due to the risk posed by the damaged floor.

During recent rains, roof leaks caused damage to documents and other essential items. Authorities are urged to carry out necessary repairs to ensure the safety of staff and the public visiting the station.

In 2006, Nurmahal police station operated from a private building. Local residents contributed six kanals and 18 marlas of Patti land for the town and spent Rs 25 lakh on constructing a dedicated police station building. However, government authorities took no further action to complete it.

The 6 kanals 14 marlas of land remain mutated in the name of common owners, preventing the police department from completing the building even after 19 years. In a meeting held on June 11, 2012, Nurmahal Nagar Council passed unanimous resolution number 40, recommending the transfer of 6 kanals 18 marlas of land to the police department for the construction of the police station. The resolution, however, was rejected by the Director of Local Government.

Residents have repeatedly urged former Chief Ministers PS Badal, Captain Amarinder Singh, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Charanjit Singh Channi, and current Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to approve the resolution and sanction the mutation in favor of Punjab Police, but the matter remains unresolved. An on-site assessment revealed urgent requirements for constructing barracks for police personnel, boundary walls, proper flooring and parking spaces for impounded vehicles.
