The formation of the Press Club has been announced by senior journalists representing various newspapers and electronic media in Kapurthala today. They elected Sandeep Oberai as president and Amarjit Singh Sadana as general secretary.

A meeting of representatives and in-charges from various newspapers and media channels was held today. After discussions, journalists initiated the election process for the president and general secretary of this new platform.

On this occasion, an 8-member committee of senior journalists, including Amarjit Komal, Vipin Mahajan , Roshan Khera, Kishori Rajput, Ravi Pathak, Harnek Singh Jainpuri, Surinder Chopra and Ashish Puri unanimously elected the president and general secretary of the Press Club.

The newly elected president and general secretary were honoured by members of the club and senior journalists.

Both assured the attendees that they would work with honesty and dedication alongside their colleagues to address journalists’ challenges on a priority basis.

The journalists pledged to uphold clean and ethical journalism as a resolution was also against the yellow journalism .

“It was also decided that the Press Club would distance itself from individuals practising yellow journalism and would only include working journalists as members”.

The newly elected president and general secretary were authorised to form the club’s body.

Prominent among those present in the meeting included Naveen Oberoi, Rajneesh Chaudhary, Amrik Singh Malli, Naresh Kadd, Advocate Pawan Kalia, Gagan Bahl, Amanjot Singh Walia, Satpal Malhotra, Amarjit Kaur Malli, photographers Tilak Raj Sharma and Manish Chopra, along with Deepak Marwaha, Rinku Kalia, Harwant Singh Sachdeva, Jaspreet Singh Sachdeva, Ravinder Kumar Thapa, Deepak Bajaj, Sukhjinder Singh Begowal, Manjit Singh Rattan Bhulath, Mehar Chand Sidhu Bhulath, Gobind Sukhija Dhilwan, Joginder Singh Jatike Bhandal Bet and Tarlochan Singh Sodhi Husainpur.
