On way to tie rakhi, 80-year-old woman dies while boarding bus in Punjab's Sultanpur Lodhi

An 80-year-old woman died after a fall while boarding a bus at the Dudwindi bus stop in Sultanpur Lodhi. The victim, identified as Krishna Kaur, wife of Swarn Singh and a resident of Mothanwal village in Kapurthala district, reportedly slipped while trying to board the bus. She fell on the ground, and one of the bus’ tyres ran over her leg, fracturing a bone.

Bystanders and police personnel rushed her to the Civil Hospital in Sultanpur Lodhi, but she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Family members alleged that the accident was the result of negligence on the part of the bus driver and conductor, insisting that Krishna Kaur was in good health and spirits before the incident. They have demanded strict legal action against those responsible.

Reports said that Krishna Kaur was on her way to Bootan village in Kapurthala district to tie a rakhi to her brother when the tragedy occurred.

According to Sultanpur Lodhi SHO Sonamdeep Kaur, the the victim’s body would undergo a post-mortem examination, and statements from the family would be recorded before further legal proceedings.
