The police on Thursday arrested a tea stall owner, identified as Jaspal Singh of Baghana village, on the charge of killing his own cousin, Nirbair Singh, a dhaba owner. DSPSurinder Singh Chand said the suspect’s son Rajbir Singh was still at large. Acase under Section 302 of the IPC was registered.

Meanwhile, Jaspal was produced before the local judicial magistrate, who sent him to two-day police remand. The police said a dhaba owner was murdered by his neighbour and his son in Bhaghana village on Monday night. The deceased had been identified as Nirbair Singh. SP (Detective) Manpreet Dhillon said Jaspal and his son Rajbir attacked Nirbair with iron rods at the dhaha over some personal enmity. The victim succumbed to injuries on Tuesday at a hospital in Jalandhar. — OC
