Jalandhar, August 9
Due to less rain this time, the dengue situation is under control in Nawanshahr. One case was reported from the rural area in Muzaffarpur of the district yesterday.
District epidemiologist Dr Rakesh Lal said due to weak monsoon this time, the cases were less. “Last year, around 10-15 cases were registered during this period,” he said.
A total of 485 cases were reported last year and in 2022, there were 313 dengue cases. The Health Department and the civic body is taking measures to ensure that the number of cases doesn’t increase.
“Door-to-door surveys are being done. Joint teams are working vigorously in the hotspots from where the maximum cases had been reported for the last three consecutive years,” Dr Rakesh Pal said.
ADC (G) Rajiv Verma reviewed the progress of health programmes by the department of Nawanshahr. The meeting focused on inter-departmental coordination to prevent the spread of monsoon-related diseases like dengue, malaria and waterborne illnesses.
