According to Hardeep, the construction site lacked basic safety measures. “There was no lighting, no warning signs and no barricading at the location. We didn’t see the deep pit in the darkness, and our bike fell straight into it,” he told reporters from his hospital bed.

All three were trapped in the pit and were rescued with great difficulty. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala. Dr Ashish Pal confirmed that Sukhwinder Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The condition of Hardeep Singh and his son is reported to be stable.
