Over 100 school heads attend conclave on ‘AI in Classrooms’
Over 100 CBSE school principals and educators from across the region gathered at Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions in Loharan branch for a major Education Conclave on “Technology in Education,” held under the aegis of Disha, an initiative by the Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust.
The conclave focused on the role of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in reshaping the education sector. Dr Palak Gupta, Director of CSR at Innocent Hearts, welcomed the attendees and the event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by the chief guest, Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Regional Officer, CBSE, Chandigarh, followed by a cultural presentation titled “Tech of Yugas,” showcasing the evolution of technology through the ages.
In his address, the chief guest urged educators to use digital tools wisely and ethically, warning against becoming overly dependent on technology.
The conclave featured a series of technical sessions by leading educationists and professionals. Dr Deepa Dogra, Director Principal of Cambridge Schools, Jalandhar, spoke on “AI for Innovation and Creativity,” emphasising the use of AI tools like Generative AI and Large Language Models for content creation. Dr Harmeet Kaur Waraich of Nankana Public School, Ludhiana, explored AI’s role in teacher training, while Dr. Aabha Arora, a Noida-based author and early childhood expert, discussed AI’s application in early education.
Other sessions included insights on AI in STEM by Kartik Goel from Delhi, sustainable technology by Paramjeet Kaur Dhillon from Phagwara and the link between AI and employability by consultant Akshay Ahuja.
Ajay Jain, CEO from Gurugram, wrapped up the sessions with an engaging talk on VR, AR and AI in classrooms.
Two panel discussions drew particular attention. The first, moderated by Dr Vinodita Sankhyan of Amritsar, explored “Overcoming Resistance to AI in Education,” while the second, led by Santosh Kumar Gautam of Jalandhar, discussed “AI and Parental Involvement in Education.” Both panels featured diverse voices from leading schools in Punjab.
The event concluded with a felicitation of the chief guest by Dr Anup Bowry, Chairman, and Dr Chander Bowry, Secretary, Medical Services, along with Dr Palak Gupta. A vote of thanks and high tea marked the end of a day filled with forward-looking dialogue on the future of education.
