Over 130 kg poppy husk seized
A man was arrested with a huge quantity of poppy husk following raids by the Lohian police at his house as part of the "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign of the rural police.
DSP, Shahkot, Onkar Singh Brar said a man identified as Balwinder Singh, alias Binder, had been pursuing selling poppy husk from his house at Mundi Shehrian village in Lohian. The DSP said the police raided his house and recovered equipment and measures used to weigh poppy husk. In all, over 130 kg poppy husk, an electronic weighing machine, weights worth 1 kg, 500 gm, 200 gm and 100 kg, were recovered from his house.
While the accused had fled from his house, the police recovered a huge quantity of poppy husk from his residence.
Four huge plastic sacks were found in which poppy husk was found stored in huge quantities - from 32 to 35 kg, each. The four sacks contained 130.8 kg poppy husk. A case has been registered under sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act against accused Balwinder Singh at the Lohian police station in Jalandhar on April 1.
