Khosla said the repair work is being carried out on a war footing, with special focus on both sides of the GT Road bridge and adjoining service lanes, keeping in view the upcoming monsoon season. The aim is to ensure smooth travel for both pedestrians and motorists, minimising inconvenience due to potholes or road damage.
Highlighting broader development initiatives, Khosla noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has recently begun his third consecutive term, the Central Government continues to pursue rapid national development. He pointed out that the Hoshiarpur road widening project is under construction.
He further added that the revamp of Phagwara Junction Railway Station is being executed at a fast pace under the guidance of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Simultaneously, work on the Ring Road project around Phagwara is also progressing steadily.
Khosla emphasised that the renovation of the nearby Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station, undertaken by the Modi government, will help ease congestion at Phagwara Railway Station, especially benefiting the thousands of LPU (Lovely Professional University) students who travel to other states via train. Former councillor Rajkumar Gupta was also present during the announcement.
