The operation was spearheaded by Inspector Usha Rani, who, with the help of technical surveillance and systematic tracking of IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers, managed to locate the lost devices. The mobile phones, of various brands and models, had been reported missing by individuals across the Phagwara subdivision. These complaints had been officially registered at local Saanjh Kendras (community policing centers).

Once the IMEI numbers were flagged for tracking, the police teams were dispatched to different locations based on technical leads. Following a meticulous search operation, the phones were recovered and verified before being personally handed back to their original owners.

Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti expressed satisfaction over the successful recovery, stating that this initiative not only demonstrates the police department’s commitment to public service but also reinforces citizens’ faith in law enforcement. She emphasised that such efforts would continue, with an increased focus on the use of technology to combat petty crimes and support community policing.
