Philippines mulls Seechewal model to save natural resources

During a meeting between Philippines Environment and Natural Resources Under Secretary Attorney Juan Miguel T.Cuna Ceso, Assistant Secretary, National Capital Manila Environment and Natural Resources Director and between environment lover Balbir Singh Seechewal during his visit to Manila recently, deep worry was expressed over the increasing pollution in water and natural resources of both countries.

Discussions were made on to find the solution and participation of the people to save the natural resources. During this meeting, a discussion was also held on the already cleaned natural resources in both the countries.

Philippines Environment and Natural Resources Under Secretary said he had been engaged in searching the possibilities of formulating the Seechewal model in the small villages in the different states. Regarding this, he is going to call a high-level meeting. This was the first meeting of Sant Seechewal with the secretary-level officials and in that Seechewal model was discussed.

During the meeting, Sant Seechewal apprised them that how after treating the contaminated waters of a village was used for irrigation. This meeting was organised with the efforts of Philipino-Indian Commerce and Welfare Society Trust members Jagmohan Singh Tambar and Dev Singh.

Sant Seechewal said the video of earlier cleansed rivers was also shown. In the video, he saw that during cleaning the floating particles were removed but there was no treatment plant installed to clean the water. During the meeting, a documentary film about the 22 years of kar sewa of the Holy Bein was shown that how with the co-operation of the sangat 165 km long river was cleansed and instead of stopping of falling of contaminated waters in a solution as Seechewal model was found to treat the contaminated waters and to use them for irrigation. They were told as to how the rejuvenation of the Bein and the visiting of then President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam had led to the cleaning the other rivers of the nation.

After watching all this, the Under Secretary acclaimed the works of Sant Seechewal and asked for his co-operation in the field of environment during his future Philippines visits. He said that he would take a decision in the high level meeting that how he could have the cooperation of Sant Seechewal for the preservation of clean environment of Philippines.
