Police arrest many in anti-drug raids; heroin, intoxicants and cash seized

In a series of coordinated anti-drug operations, the Kapurtala Police have arrested multiple suspects and recovered heroin, intoxicant capsules, poppy husk, cash and vehicles under various sections of the NDPS Act.

SP (D) Prabhjot Singh Virk said that in the first case, a complaint was filed by Vikram Singh, a resident of Ibbaan, Kapurtala. Based on this, a case was registered against Karnveer Singh and Ravir Singh @ Ranjha, both residents of Atola, Jalandhar. Police recovered an ATM card, Aadhaar card, Rs 3,000 in cash and narcotics from the suspects.

In another operation, ASI Keval Singh of CIA Staff Kapurtala, along with his team, was conducting routine checking near Rajapur Morh when two men on a motorcycle tried to flee. They were intercepted and identified as Simran Singh @ Fauji and Trilok Singh, both residents of Lattiawala, Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurtala. Police seized a plastic bag containing 10 kg of poppy husk from them. Both were arrested and their Pulsar motorcycle was impounded.

In a separate incident, police arrested Aqtal @ Deola, a resident of Mahula Ucha, Thohta, under Police Station City Kapurtala. During patrol, police found 7 grams of heroin in his possession. The accused was booked under the NDPS Act and taken into custody.

Another arrest was made by ASI Harpal Singh of Police Station JR, who, along with his team, apprehended a woman identified as Manjit Kaur @ Mindo, wife of Mukha Singh, resident of Lakhan Khole, Subhanpur, Kapurtala. She was found carrying 220 pink-coloured intoxicant capsules (branded). On seeing the police, she tried to discard the packet but was caught and the contraband was seized. A case was registered and further investigation is underway.

SP Virk said that the drive against drug trafficking in the region would continue with intensified checking and patrolling. All arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the seized substances have been sent for forensic examination. Further action, including tracing the supply chain and identifying links to larger drug networks, is in progress.
