Marking a new beginning on the Teacher’s Day, 1.24-km long Kharodi Hakumatpur-Kalewal Fattu road constructed at a cost of Rs14.40 lakh, was inaugurated by a Principal Gurmeet Singh. The road was constructed with the efforts of Chabbewal MLA Dr Raj Kumar.

Addressing the villagers, the MLA said, “Teachers are the nation builders. They are instrumental in giving direction to the new generation.” He said there would be no shortage of funds for completion of development works.

Kalewal Bhagatan sarpanch Rajdeep Kaur; panch Ravinder Kaur, panch Satwinder Singh, panch Harbhajan Lal, panch Manjit Singh, panch Harjinder Kaur, Dr Vipan Pachanangal, Garhshankar Market Committee official Harjinder Kaur Kot, Baljit Singh Kot, Jaspal Singh Purewal and sports club head Balbir Singh were also present on the occasion.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
