The District Writers’ Forum organised an All India Mushaira today under the leadership of its convener Raghuvir Singh Terkiana. The Professor Mohan Singh Aujla Memorial Award, given every year by the Forum, was presented to Delhi artist Lalit Chaubey this time. Terkiana said that in the near future, poets from other countries will also be invited to take part in the mushaira.

Apart from various districts of Punjab, poets from Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh held the audience spellbound with their poems, ghazals and songs in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

The Mushaira was started by Prof Ajit Langeri who shared some of his memorable moments about Prof Mohan Singh Aujla. He started the discussion with the words of Prof Mohan Singh Aujla, “Har tha jhakkhad jhulde garam hawawan de, lagda mausam lad gaye thandiyan chhawan de”. Then poet, singer, painter, sculptor and artist Chaubey presented Professor Mohan Singh’s ghazals: ‘Bol Pyar De Bol Gaya Koi Jeevan Vich Ras Ghol Gaya Koi’, ‘Samajik Sambandhan Vichhon, Wafa Na Bhalade Rehna in his beautiful voice.
