Members of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Naujawan Sabha, Punjab, staged a protest march in Phillaur against the government’s land pooling policy. The march, led by Makhan Sangrami, Gagandeep “Gagga” Phillaur, and Amreek Rudka, culminated at Nawan Shahar Chowk, where protesters burned an effigy of the government.

State president Manjinder Singh Dhessi and district secretary Advocate Ajay Phillaur accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government of implementing pro-corporate and anti-farmer policies on behalf of the Central Government. They alleged that the policy would allow corporations to acquire fertile farmland at throwaway prices, displacing working people.

“The government, in partnership with corporate and imperialist forces, can never work in the people’s interest,” Dhessi said. “Punjab’s youth will continue their struggle until this policy is withdrawn.”

Tehsil secretary Sunil Bhaini warned that if the government failed to scrap the policy, the sabha would intensify its agitation in the coming days.

A large number of youth participated in the protest, raising slogans of “Punjab Sarkar Murdabad” and urging local residents to unite against such policies. Those present included Gurinderjit Gary, Jasvir Dhessi, Inderjit, Gurwinder, Sunny Jassal, Jassa, Ricky Miowal, Lakhvir Khokhewal, Okar Virdi, Tilak Raj, Daljit Bhatti, Jassa Phillaur, Lovraj Birdi, Joga Sangowal, Jassa Rudka, and Jasvir Phillaur, among others.
