Govt rolls out Rs 2,000/quintal wheat subsidy; free seeds for flood-hit farmers

Providing further details, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Jaswinder Singh stated that as per the policy issued for the rabi 2025-26 season, farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 2,000 per quintal on wheat seeds. Additionally, flood-affected farmers will be eligible to receive wheat seeds free of cost.
Dr Singh informed that, like previous years, farmers can register on the official portal of the Agriculture Department, www.agrimachinarypb.com, to avail the subsidy benefits. He emphasised that only those farmers who are found eligible by the department will receive the subsidy. Free seeds will be distributed to farmers listed in the flood-affected areas as identified by the district administration.
He further mentioned that PUNSEED has been designated as the nodal agency for seed supply. The subsidy will only be available for wheat varieties recommended by Punjab Agricultural University, including: PBW 826, PBW 869, PBW 824, PBW 803, PBW 766, DBW 222, DBW 187, HD 3226, PBW 771, PBW 757, PBW 752, etc.
As per the policy, a farmer will be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 2,000 per quintal for up to one hectare of land. Flood-affected farmers will receive free seeds for up to two hectares.
Dr Singh urged farmers to register on the portal to take full advantage of this scheme as per the Punjab Government’s guidelines.
