As part of this effort, the trust donated 500 books to the newly built library in Burn village.
The library building has been constructed through the joint efforts of the village panchayat and local NRIs. Responding to a proposal from young social activist Pavittar Singh Burn, the trust decided to contribute books by prominent Punjabi authors to enrich the library’s collection.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Jaswant Singh Gandam, president of the Punjabi Virsa Trust, and Gurmeet Singh Palahi, general secretary, emphasized that establishing libraries in villages is the need of the hour. They added that the trust will continue to provide free books to those panchayats or voluntary organizations that take the initiative to open libraries in the Phagwara block area.
