Jalandhar: Delhi Public School hosted Sahodaya inter-school Punjabi skit competition. Principal Ritu Kaul and Col AK Maini (retd) welcomed the audience. A total of 19 schools participated in the competition. Each school had six to eight participants from Classes VIII to XII. The teams came prepared with one of the two themes of the skit – ‘Deterioration of moral values in man in the present times’ and ‘The trend of Green card weddings in which families marry young daughters to much older NRI men’. DIPS, Kapurthala, stood first in the contest. The teams from Doaba Public Senior Secondary School, Garhshankar, and GMA City Public School, Chabbewal, came second. Sahodaya kho kho competition

Kapurthala: A two-day Sahodaya kho-kho competition was held at MGN Public School, wherein seventeen schools participated. In girls U-17 category, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, near RCF, emerged as the winners of the match. The second position was bagged by MGN Kapurthala, followed by Little Angles Co-Ed School, Kapurthala. In boys U-17, the winners was MGN Public School Kapurthala. The first runner-up was Sri Guru Harkirishan Public School while third position was bagged by Oliver Public School, Kapurthala. Medals were distributed by principal Rashmi Sharma. TNS

Appreciation day celebrated

Jalandhar: APJ School’s celebrated its Appreciation Day ‘Ekyam’. The function commenced with the lighting of lamp by chief guest Sandeep Hans Deputy Commissioner, Moga, principal Girish kumar and vice-principal VK Khanna. Shiv Stuti, was performed by the tiny tots of primary wing. Foot- tapping Sufi dance and Punjabi folk sung by the school choir enthralled the audience. An English play ‘The Awakening’ and Hindi play ‘Ekyam’ showcased the theatrical abilities of students with the message that God is one. Principal Girish Kumar read-out the school report accentuating the various achievements of the students in disparate fields of academics and co-curricular activities.

Workshop on Emotional Intelligence

Jalandhar: A workshop on ‘Inclusive Education and Emotional Intelligence’ was conducted in Seth Hukam Chand S.D Public Sr. Sec. Schoo Jalandhar. Bhavdeep Kohli was the resource person on the occasion. She was given a ceremonial welcome principal Priyanka Sharma. It was an interactive workshop which focused on child’s personality development. Teacher is a mentor, counsellor and guide who can connect with students and transform their personalities by nurturing their unique qualities.

‘Say no to plastic’ campaign

Jalandhar: To generate awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of using plastic, a ‘Say no to plastic’ campaign was organised on the campus use Cambridge International School (Co-Ed) in association with Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar and a digital media portal. The campaign witnessed the presence of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Babita Kler and Ramesh Mittal, chairman, Lovely Professional University. Sharma and Kler addressed the students and motivated them for being the crusaders for the betterment of the environment and educated them regarding the ways to lessen the use of plastic in their daily life and also about recycling, reusing and refusing plastic. The students took a pledge to refuse plastic and spread the message to their friends and family.

Food distribution event

Jalandhar: Roti Bank, a food distribution event, was organised by Darshan Academy to awaken and encourage selfless service. Students brought ‘Rotis’ from their homes and distributed to the needy. They distributed food to the slum areas. Satisfaction could be seen on the faces of the students. They went throughout the slum areas to distribute food to the hungry in chilled and foggy day. Everyone encouraged and appreciated this selfless service of the students of school.

Workshop on web development

Jalandhar: Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering organised a workshop on ‘web development using HTML and CSS’ for the students of Engineering and Computer applications. Gaurav Sharma (project manager) and Navneesh (web developer), Geekers Technology apprised the students about of some important web development skills. The workshop was organised with the objective of making students comprehend: Web architecture, various technologies in website designing and development, role of HTML AND CSS, creating a design for website, various CSS properties like animation transition text properties, uploading website on server, hosting using cPanel, application and installation of WordPress. Dr Rajesh Bagga, director, Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus, expressed that such workshops are beneficial for the prospective engineers.

Inter-college boxing c’ship

Jalandhar: Boxing team of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, participated in Inter-College Boxing Championship in 2019-20. The tournament was held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The team won the overall third position. One player of the team Babita Rani has been selected for All India Inter-University that will be held at Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Principal Dr Kiran Arora congratulated the team and coach Vivek Yadav for achieving the dictinction..

Mathematics day celebrated

Jakandhar: Eklavya School, Jalandhar, celebrated National Mathematics Day on the school premises. The day is celebrated on December 22 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Indian mathematician. Primary school participated in various mathematics activities such as making paper plate clock, pizza fractions. Middle and senior school participated in poster making competition. Quiz competition and objective test competition were also organised on the day with the themes of ‘Indian mathematics’, ‘Mathematics for life’ and ‘Modern day mathematics’ .

Exposition of clubs

Jalandhar: Innocent Hearts School exhibited their creativity in ‘Exposition of Clubs’. The Ambassadors of Heritage, Health and Wellness, Eco, Art and IT Club displayed their creativity. The Heritage Club showed the diversity of the Nation in a colourful manner. They presented culture of various states, including dance, food, clothes, monuments and their other specialties. The representatives of Health and Wellness Club demonstrated healthy and unhealthy food items. They gave a message ‘Say no to plastic’ and ‘Save Earth through ramp walk’. Eco Club explained the production of electricity from plants. They exhibited their creativity with the ‘Best out of the waste’ and working models. Budding artists of Art and Craft Club displayed their items made with jute, waste materials. IT Club students created virtual Images and showed in dark room.
