Punjabi University, Patiala, won the All-India Inter-University (AIIU) football title today with a 2-0 victory over Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala.

The finale was held at the football ground of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khiala. Bharat of Punjabi University was declared man of the match and Sandeep Singh of Punjabi University was announced the overall best player of the tournament.

Dharmjit Singh Parmar, vice-chancellor, welcomed Sushil Kumar Rinku, Member of Parliament, with a bouquet. In the tournament, 32 teams from all across the country participated enthusiastically. Jaspal Singh (AIIU observer) expressed his appreciation over the arrangements and facilities provided by the host university. A vote of thanks was extended by Randhir Singh Pathania, director, Sports.
