Relief, rescue operations continue in Sultanpur Lodhi despite heavy rain

Relief and rescue operations in the flood-hit areas of Sultanpur Lodhi and Dhilwan are continuing without interruption, despite relentless rainfall triggered by the rising waters of the Beas river.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal stated that relief teams have been working tirelessly over the past two days, ensuring that essential aid reaches affected residents. On Friday, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) successfully evacuated the entire family of Jagat Singh from Baupur village, where they had been stranded by floodwaters.

Panchal added that officials have been directed to enhance the distribution of essential supplies—particularly food grains, medicines to prevent disease outbreaks, and silage for livestock. He stressed that animal health remains a key priority during the ongoing rains, with veterinary teams using boats to reach flood-hit households and provide medical care to cattle.

Urging residents to stay alert and avoid falling prey to rumours, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged people to contact control rooms immediately in case of emergencies.
