In the orders, the DC also directed all telecom and internet service providers to contact the PSPCL by August 31 to regularise the wires laid on PSPCL poles.
Dr Aggarwal said that it has come to his notice that several telecom and internet service providers working in the city have illegally laid wires on PSPCL poles, which is adversely affecting the power supply. He said that any company failing to regularise or remove such unauthorised connections by the given date will have to pay a penalty as prescribed per pole by PSPCL, and all unauthorised wires laid on PSPCL poles will be removed immediately without any prior notice.
He further instructed PSPCL officials to ensure strict compliance with these directions and initiate necessary action against defaulters even after the stipulated date.
With the objective of removing hanging, unused and damaged wires across the city, the PSPCL had launched a pilot project from Master Tara Singh Nagar under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner.
While reviewing the progress of this pilot project in a meeting today, the DC congratulated PSPCL officials on its successful completion and asked them to implement the project across the entire city.
Seeking cooperation from the public in this task, Dr Aggarwal said that complaints regarding removal of unused, damaged and dilapidated wire bunch or repair of poles can be lodged on the district administration’s helpline number 9646-222-555. He said the complaints registered by the public will be forwarded to PSPCL’s nodal officers for immediate resolution.
The DC emphasised that the purpose of the campaign was not only to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for city residents but also to guarantee their safety and restore the its aesthetic appearance.
