Union vice-president Narendra Dutt Sharma wrote to the Punjab Local Bodies Department and Chief Secretary, urging immediate action to fill vacant positions. Sharma highlighted the problem of the Deputy Controller of Finance and Accounts (DCFA) being assigned to Phagwara only once a week. The accounts officer is only available twice a week and no clerk has been appointed. Retired employees are forced to make repeated visits to complete pending tasks. Sharma has called on the state government to appoint a full-time DCFA and permanent accounts officer.
