Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa today lauded the industrial institutions for their contribution in the beautification of Hoshiarpur.

He was talking to journalists today while inaugurating the beautification of Raj Rani Mittal Road, starting from Food Street Chowk to Public Works Department Rest House (PWD Rest House).

Later, addressing a meeting at Sanjeevani Sharanam, a centre for elderly care and an initiative by Sonalika under its corporate social responsibility programme, Jimpa said that apart from street lights on the roadside, special footpaths will be built for people to walk besides a green belt. He expressed happiness that industrial institutions were cooperating in the betterment of the city.

Jimpa said that the company was also providing health services by opening physiotherapy and autism centres. He also praised its contribution in setting up the government cattle pound at Falahi.

Vice-chairman (Cabinet minister rank) of Economic Policy and Planning Board Amrit Sagar Mittal who is also the vice-chairman of Sonalika Industries, recalled the ideals of his mother Raj Rani Mittal that inspired the family to take up social service.

Hoshiarpur Cooperative Bank Chairman Vikram Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary and other dignitaries were also present.
