Continuous rainfall this monsoon season has worsened the condition of roads in the city. All major roads, including Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk, Football Chowk, Kapurthala Chowk, and Swami Vivekananda Chowk (Workshop Chowk), have made commuting a biggest problem for residents as these are teeming with deep potholes and are broken at several spots.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, AAP’s Jalandhar Central constituency in-charge Nitin Kohli, along with party leaders and Municipal Corporation officials, conducted a detailed inspection of these roads. Kohli assessed the condition of potholes on roads and interacted with local residents. He said, “Residents’ problems will not only be heard, but also be resolved. I am a servant of the people. Every problem of the people is my own problem. These roads are the heartbeat of the city. When roads are broken, the entire city comes to a halt. That is why I have given clear instructions to officials that repair and construction work of roads should start immediately. Delays will not be tolerated.”

“We want to make Jalandhar a better and modern city. From Ambedkar Chowk to Workshop Chowk and other affected areas, road infrastructure will be strengthened and made durable so that people do not face problems while commuting. This time it will not just be temporary work, but a permanent solution for the broken roads issue,” said Kohli.

Superintendent Engineer Rahul Dhawan, XEN Arvind Aggarwal, Municipal Corporation officials, Subhash Sharma, Dheeraj Seth, Goldy Marwaha, Manish Sharma, Rajiv Gill, Manjit Singh, Jatin Gulati, Sonu Chaddha, Harjeet Minhas, Ajay Chopra and Arun Saini were present on the occasion.
