The championship served as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their creativity in designing and operating robots. Participants engaged in various challenges highlighting the importance of robotics in today’s technological landscape.
Addressing the participants, Dr Rajesh Grover, Director of Science City, emphasised the transformative role of robots in modern industry. He said we live in an era where robotics and artificial intelligence are reshaping industries, economies, and even daily life. Dr Grover highlighted how robots have become integral to numerous sectors, revolutionizing tasks while boosting safety, productivity, and efficiency. He underscored their capability to operate in hazardous environments such as nuclear power plants and deep underwater, thereby minimising risks to human workers. He also added that robots can work tirelessly, increasing overall productivity and allowing human employees to focus on more complex and creative responsibilities.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for the next generation of engineers to apply their knowledge and passion in a competitive and collaborative setting. Dr Afzal Sikander, Assistant Professor at NIT Jalandhar, evaluated the performance of the robots during the event. In the Robotics Championship, GNA University, Phagwara won the 1st and 3rd prizes (Rs 7,000 and Rs 3,000), while the 2nd prize (Rs 5,000) was awarded to a team from Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib.
