Several government buildings here have started experiencing dampness and roof seepage following the recent rain.

Water leakage has been reported from both the court complex as well as the district administrative complex, including record rooms and computer rooms. Buckets had to be kept under leaking points to collect rainwater. Employees were seen using wipers to drain out water accumulating on the floors.

The false ceiling of the Labour Court collapsed, and blocks of Plaster of Paris fell near the chairs of the staff. No one was injured in the incident.

A similar ceiling collapse occurred about a month ago in the billing office of the Municipal Corporation, where a woman employee had got injured and had to be hospitalised.

According to the Meteorology Department, Jalandhar has experienced 100 mm of rainfall over the past three days, with more rain forecast this week. There have been two spells of rain since Wednesday morning, and the skies were expected to remain overcast throughout the day.
