The final of the 18th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament for the Mata Prakash Kaur Cup (Under-19 Boys) will witness an intense clash between Round Glass Hockey Academy, Mohali, and Odisha Naval Tata High Performance Centre, Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

The two teams secured their spots in the final following high-stakes semi-final matches held earlier today. Round Glass Hockey Academy, Mohali emerged victorious in a closely contested semi-final against NCOE, Sonipat, finishing with a score of 8-6. Gursewak Singh played a pivotal role for Mohali, scoring three crucial goals. Sukhwinder Singh, who netted two goals, was declared the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

In the second semi-final, Odisha Naval Tata HPC overcame Sports Hostel, Lucknow in a dramatic shootout after the match ended 5-5 in regulation time. Odisha’s Bilkan Oram and Rohit Singh delivered key goals during the match, while goalkeeper Vivek Lakra’s stellar performance in the shootout secured a 4-2 victory for his team. Lakra was named the Player of the Match for his decisive contribution.

The tournament carries significant rewards, with the champion team set to receive Rs 1.5 lakh and the Mata Prakash Kaur Cup. The runner-up will be awarded Rs 1 lakh and a trophy, while the third and fourth placed teams will take home Rs 80,000 and Rs 60,000, respectively. The Harmohinder Kaur Memorial Trophy will also be presented to the team demonstrating the best sportsmanship. The third-place match between NCOE, Sonipat and Sports Hostel, Lucknow will take place at 10:30 am on Sunday.
