SAD, BJP hail court verdict on Sajjan

Several SAD and BJP leaders like Ranjit Singh Khurana, former Rajya Sabha Member Avinash Rai Khanna and farmer leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal have welcomed the decision of the sessions court in Delhi which pronounced life imprisonment for former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

In statements released here today, they said the decision though late gives the hope that anyone who commits a crime will have to face the law one day.

They said the families of victims have got some respite with the decision.

They also alleged that had the Congress been ruling at the Centre, no action would have been initiated against the guilty leaders.

There are various other Congress leaders including Kamal Nath and Jagdish Tytler who are facing trials and the day is not far when they too will face justice, said the BJP and SAD leaders.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
