The Commissionerate Police on Saturday launched a project titled “Sahyog’. The aim of the project is to boost security in the industrial area here.

Giving details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma said, “The project has been launched in association with the Focal Point Industry Association. The basic aim of the project is to strengthen safety and security in the industrial zone for which dedicated patrolling teams with necessary resources have been deployed.”

He said, “The Focal Point area has been divided into two beats covering six blocks. Four vehicles (Boleros) will be on regular patrol. In future, more areas will be covered by deploying two additional vehicles.”

The CP said every team would have four security guards and one police personnel with first aid kits, weapons, fire extinguishers, torches, flashers, wireless sets and other items.

He said the teams had attended a two-day extensive training module at the Police Lines in Jalandhar to ensure that they were well-prepared to respond effectively to any security challenge, if the need arises. “The project ensures enhanced security in the industrial area through patrolling teams thereby providing a quick response to any untoward incident,” the CP said.

He emphasised that the collaboration between the Police Commissionerate and the Focal Point Industry Association would foster community partnerships thereby offering peace of mind to industrialists. He said the police were committed to maintain law and order in the city by active support of the general public.

Industrialists present on the occasion hailed the initiative of the Commissionerate Police. They said it would go a long way in strengthening association between the police and the general public.
