Scrap worth Rs 40L destroyed in fire

No loss of human lives is reported

Scrap worth Rs 40 lakh approximately was reduced to ashes in a fire which broke in a godown near a petrol pump in Phillaur in wee hours on Monday.

SDM Phillaur Amanpal Singh and DSP Phillaur Sarwan Singh Bal who rushed to the spot told The Tribune that fire tenders from Phillaur, Phagwara and Ludhiana were immediately pressed into service. More than 50 water tanks of 14 fire brigades made efforts and controlled the fire till this morning. However, the cause of fire was not ascertained yet.

No loss of human lives was reported.
