30-year-old shot dead after minor argument in Phagwara

A 30-year-old drummer, Avinash @Golu, was shot dead by armed miscreants in Janjhghar Hadiabad, Phagwara, late on Wednesday night following a minor argument. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Acting swiftly, Phagwara Police, led by SP Madhvi Sharma, arrested one of the accused, Amritpal Singh @Amit, a resident of Manikpur village near Shahkot, in a few hours. Two others, Jaspreet Singh @Jassi of Khajurala and Rajkaran @Golu, also residents of the Shahkot belt, have been named in the case and are currently being searched by police teams.

The police have recovered an empty cartridge from the crime site.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by DSP Bharat Bhushan and SHO Satnampura Hardip Singh, has been constituted to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Toora appreciated the swift tracing of the case and reaffirmed that strict action would be taken against the accused. "We will ensure that no individual feels emboldened to take the law into their hands," he said.

Police officials maintain that such crimes will be tackled with prompt response and uncompromising legal action.
