Security arrangements have been intensified in the city ahead of the Independence Day function in the city. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is scheduled to unfurl the Tricolour on the day at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium here.

PK Sinha, ADGP, Law and Order, Punjab, convened a high-level security meeting in Jalandhar. Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, along with other senior officers of the city police, was present during the meeting.

The meeting aimed to provide clear directions, instructions and brief officers on the importance of the Independence Day event. Various aspects were discussed during the meeting, including city-wide nakabandi, night patrolling, monitoring of suspicious individuals, security of VIPs and security of the stadium, etc.

Special emphasis was laid on intelligence gathering and coordination with CID, Counter Intelligence, to thwart any potential threats. The officers were instructed to maintain high vigilance at all sensitive locations, including government buildings, transportation hubs and crowded public spaces.

The importance of community engagement was also highlighted, urging officers to involve local residents in reporting any suspicious activities on 112 Helpline. Later, the officials took a round of the stadium and checked security measures at the site too.
