Expressing concern over incomplete road construction in Sultanpur Lodhi over the past three years, Seechewal said he was surprised that the administration was not taking the Parkash Purb smagam seriously. He stressed that preparations should have begun two months ago.
He spoke with the PWD’s Executive Officer, instructing that all pending road work be completed before November 5. Similarly, he directed SDM Alka Kalia to ensure that all unfinished projects are completed promptly.
Recalling the 550th Parkash Purb in 2019, Seechewal noted that major projects, including the development of Baba Nanak’s village and the city’s declaration as a Smart City, remain incomplete. Funds of Rs 46 crore allocated for cleaning and beautifying the sacred Kali Bein have yet to be utilised. Plans for CCTV installations, drain repairs, park development, and school construction also remain unfinished.
He said accommodation arrangements for devotees from across India and abroad would be made in the same spirit as the 550th Parkash Purb and appealed to villagers to host visitors in their homes. Volunteers have been actively decorating the ghats in preparation for the celebrations.
Seechewal also praised local farmers, stating that this year few stubble burning cases were reported. He congratulated the farmers for their efforts in protecting the environment. He added that a total of six Nagar Kirtans are planned, with one already completed. The second Nagar Kirtan will travel from Ahli Kalan to Sultanpur Lodhi on October 30.
