The Jalandhar (Rural) police have apprehended a notorious snatcher involved in a series of thefts. The suspect, identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Kahluwar village, was arrested during a raid conducted by a team from Bhogpur police station.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the operation was conducted under the supervision of Adampur DSP Sumit Sood following a tip-off. A police team, led by SHO Sikander Singh, managed to nab the suspect and seize significant evidence linked to his criminal activities.

Among the items recovered from the suspect included an Activa scooter used in crimes, a smart watch worth ?25,000, five high-end mobile phones, including a OnePlus touch cellphone, a wallet containing cash and a data card suspected to have records of the illegal activities.

The SSP said, “The police team spotted the suspect on an Activa scooter. When signalled to stop, he attempted to flee, leading to a chase. The team successfully apprehended the suspect after a brief pursuit.”

He said the suspect would be produced in a local court to seek his police remand for further interrogation. He said more recoveries of stolen goods were anticipated during further probe.
