Government Middle School, Dhak Narangshahpur, concluded a two-month martial arts and self-defence training programme under the Rani Lakshmi Bai Scheme, initiated by the Punjab Education Department as per the directions of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

The training was conducted under the supervision of school in-charge Parmdeep Kaur by chief karate coach Naresh Kumar, black belt third degree from the Indian School of Self-Defence Club. On the final day, students demonstrated various martial arts techniques and self-defence skills, gaining appreciation from all present.

During the events held as part of the closing ceremony, winning students were awarded medals and certificates for their performances. In the girls’ category, the team of Gursimran Pal, Tanveer and Gagni secured first place and bagged the gold medal, while in the boys’ kata category, Kunal Thind, Krishan Kumar and Nitin emerged winners with a gold medal.

In girls’ holding and self-defence techniques, Gursimran Pal won gold, Manvi secured silver and Jasveer Kaur bagged the bronze medal.

Similarly, in the boys’ self-defence and holding event, Kunal Thind won gold, Baljinder Kumar took silver and Baljeet Kumar earned bronze. In marble tile-breaking, Gursimran Pal claimed gold in the girls’ category, whereas Krishan Kumar secured gold for the boys.

Karate coach Naresh Kumar was also honoured by the school administration and SMC committee for his contribution to the training programme.
