A meeting to review the preparations of the 11th state-level delegation meeting of the Punjab Subordinate Services Federation (PSSF) was held in Jalandhar on Monday. PSSF state president Satish Rana said the Centre was destroying the economy of the country by implementing neoliberal policies.

Addressing the meeting, state president of the All-India State Government Employees Federation Subhash Lamba said by privatising government sectors, keeping contractual staff instead of regular one and by eliminating old pension schemes, the Centre had caused a huge damage to the nation’s economy.

He said privatisation of railway and power sectors had caused havoc in the lives of many working class people. “The Centre and state government employees who had been raising these demands had been at the receiving end for long,” he said.

He called for strengthening of efforts being made by the PSSF and the preparations of the delegate meeting of the federation. It was also demanded that the struggle against policies of the Centre be emboldened.

PSSF state general secretary Tirath Singh Bassi discussed about block/tehsil/district-level elections due from August 16 to September 16; the state convention of the joint front to be held in Jalandhar on August 7; and other issues on the union’s agenda.
