Tableaux depicting ‘important contribution of Punjabis in the fight for the country’s freedom’, ‘women power’ and ‘rich cultural heritage of Punjab’ received warm welcome in Garhshankar under the leadership of Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Jai Krishna Singh Rouri.

One of the tableaus highlighted the Jallianwala Bagh incident, the sacrifice of great personalities like Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Shaheed Udham Singh, Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shaheed Sukhdev, Lala Hardayal, Sardar Ajit Singh, Baba Kharak Singh, Madan Lal Dhingra, Dr Diwan Singh Kalepani and the incident of Komagata Maru.

In the second tableau, women empowerment in various fields and Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls have been highlighted. Similarly, through the third tableau, a glimpse of the rich heritage and culture of Punjab has been presented.

On this occasion, Deputy Speaker Rouri said the initiative of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to bring these tableaux depicting the glorious history and heritage of Punjab in front of the people of Punjab was highly commendable. He said the history and culture of Punjab was unique and no one can underestimate it. He said the great history and rich culture being depicted through these tableaux will help the young generation to connect with their roots. On the occasion, a large number of people took selfies and photographs with the tableaux. These tableaux passed through various areas of Garhshankar and reached Chabbewal via Saila Khurd, Mahilpur. These will be displayed in Hoshiarpur on Thursday.

People will be able to see them at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Government College Chowk, Prabhat Chowk, Tanda Bypass and Naloian Chowk in Hoshiarpur city. Later, they will leave for Gurdaspur via Hariana, Bhunga, Garhdiwala, Dasuya, Unchi Bassi and Mukerian and then enter Gurdaspur district.
