Team inspects flour mills, grocery shops, restaurants

A food safety team, including District Health Officer Dr Jatinder Kumar Bhatia and Food Safety Officer Vivek Kumar, inspected flour mills and grocery shops and collected three flour samples.

Acting on a complaint, the team visited Shimla Pahari area and inspected various restaurants. During the checking, two food vendors were found not following proper hygiene, following which they were issued challans.

Sharing information, Jatinder said during checking, food vendors were instructed to adhere to FSSAI guidelines and adopt good hygiene practices. Strict action would be taken against those violating rules.

Shopkeepers were also told not to keep vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items together in refrigerators and freezers at their establishments. They should not keep any expired food items at the shop. All confectioners, bakeries and fast food vendors have also been instructed to wear aprons, caps, gloves and masks. Action will be taken against those not following the rules under the Food Safety Standards Act.
