Teams set for finals in Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament

The semifinal matches of the village, college and club categories took place on the fourth day of the five-day 22nd State Level Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament, organised by the Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament Committee, Garhshankar. The event is being organised at the Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Stadium at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College.

In the village category, the Simbli team secured a spot in the finals, defeating Ghagon Roranwali 2-0. In the college category, Khalsa College Mahilpur triumphed 2-0 over Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar to advance to the final. In the club category, International Football Club Phagwara won 2-1 against Young Football Club Mahilpur, while Olympian Jarnail Singh Football Academy Garhshankar defeated JCT Football Academy Phagwara 3-1, both teams progressing to the final.

The final matches for all categories would be held on the last day of the tournament, Tuesday, February 11.

In a sombre moment, the tournament committee and players observed a two-minute silence to honour Kuljit Kaur, the wife of senior committee member and stage manager Roshanjit Singh Panam, who passed away on Sunday night.
